DO DO DO....DON'T JUST DON'T

Hello, my dear friends! Even though seasons don’t drastically change over night, I am still counting down the days until it is officially spring (Hello, March 20!). Perhaps it’s being in that spring state of mind that always makes me feel better. That said, I’m also looking forward to brighter, sunnier days so I can try out some of the season’s hottest beauty trends. Not that I can’t try them out  now but, again, I want to be in that official “spring state of mind”. So to prepare for these beauty trends, I’ve made a list of Do’s & Don’ts to master the spring 2011 runway looks.
DO: Bold lips. This is probably the hottest trend of the season. From saturated orange to hot pink and everything in between, these colors not only made their way onto the spring collections, but on models’ faces as well. Try a matte lipstick for a chic runway look and keep your eye makeup clean and natural.
DON’T: Be scared of color. Perhaps bright orange and hot pink lips are too drastic for you to switch to all at once. No problem. Ease your way into the trend with more subtle shades of coral, watermelon pink and even classic red.
DO: Brighten up your eyes. Along with bold lips, spring 2011 runways showed us that brightly colored eyes were a trend to try. Dress your eyelids with a bold pink, orange, green or blue eyeshadow and make your eyes pop even more with a cat-like black liner and mascara.
DON’T: Go overboard. Keep the bold eye look punchy, yet simple with only one eyeshadow. Skip the rainbow color trifecta and stick to just one fabulously bright hue for a chic runway look. Also, focus only on one feature; eyes or lips – not both at the same time.
DO: Smokey, sultry eyes. This is another of the season’s hot makeup trends. Just a little bit of shadowy color can go a long way. To avoid an overly dramatic nighttime look during the day, stick with grays or even dark blue shadow, using only enough to create an effortlessly smokey look.
DON’T: Be afraid to go natural. If bright colors and dramatic makeup aren’t your style, then you’re in luck. The au naturel look was another runway favorite. There’s nothing like accentuating your natural beauty, so keep your look flawless and glowing with a light application of blush or bronzer, a few strokes of mascara and a subtle lip color to add just a little extra pout to your lips.
