Taking Care Of Your Skin During Cold Weather Months.....

Each season presents us with different challenges for our skin. Hot and cold weather effects us differently. When the skin perspires, this can result in prickly heat rashes as well as issues with acne and fungal problems. In cooler temperatures there are issues such as how to stop makeup from cracking and what to do for your skin for the holidays to make it look good despite dry and cool air.

In cold weather it's useful to use a mild cleanser and not to dry the skin out too much. If you have a humidifier that can help your skin from drying out and cracking. Be gentle on your facial skin. It is sensitive and if it lose moisture you can get other problems. For instance, you can get a cold sore rash on your lips if your skin gets too dry and you have the herpes virus in your system.

People tend to drink less water in the winter, however this is a mistake. Skin flourishes with the right moisture conditions. Using a warm scarf over your face can protect it but that can also result in exposure to dirt if the scarf isn't washed frequently enough. Also, the sun can still effect the skin during cold weather. Just because you are shivering doesn't mean that the sun isn't a danger. People can still get a sunburn despite the fact that it's chilly outdoors. Wearing a sunscreen in the winter is imperative. Getting skin damage can lead to future problems and the removal of pre-cancerous and cancerous spots as one gets older. In addition, aging spots are another negative consequence of skin damage.

Good nutrition and supplements are useful for the skin texture. Having a little bit of oil internally such as olive oil or canola oil are nourishing. Using masks with papaya or other natural ingredients can help the skin to exfoliate and become nourished. When you purchase products, get the ones that are suited for your skin type and not just what are popular.

Dry skin....and Olive Oil try it you'll Love It....
When it comes to moisturizing dry skin, there is no better moisturizer than olive oil. Olive oil has been used as a cosmetic since the biblical times. Egyptians used the oil harvested from the fruit to help their skin remain young and supple. Today, olive oil is still extremely popular, but there have been a few variations in the way that the oil is used. Instead of slapping the raw oil directly on the skin which can leave a greasy, odorous film, people tend to purchase fragrant products that contain just a touch of olive oil.

The benefits of olive oil for dry skin are endless. The oil is capable of restoring natural moisture to the skin and it can also firm, tone and smooth the skin. Olive oil has also been found to speed healing in the case of injury or blemishes. All the way around, olive oil is just a good skin care product that you should have in your medicine cabinet.

Winter months Tips, and Tricks....

During the winter months, you do not have to be thinking about pastels and summery colors. Rather, now is the time to change things up to match a more drastic style, if you would like to. In any case, the following tips should be kept in mind.
  1. Try oil based moisturizers and protective style foundations instead of lighter foundations used in summer. These will help to protect your skin from drying out and they give you a more substantial look.
  2. Go for color that is more dramatic on the eyes. Try a matte eye shadow for the spring months, or choose winter colors that are darker, like grays and browns rather than pastels.
  3. Blush may be more dramatic tool. Use earth tones instead of soft peaches and pinks for a real statement.
  4. Remember to protect your skin if you are outdoors. Even in the winter months, the sun is glaring down. You need SPF protection.
  5. Go for thicker and more prominent mascara. You can repeat this heavier color with your lips, too. Choose darker colors with more substance to them.
Makeup tips in the winter are designed to help make a statement. It is easy to fade away during the winter months. Avoid that by using more color and more dimensions in that color

Did you know that the way you cleanse and take care of your skin plays a huge part in how your makeup will wear on your skin....Well here are six great tips to acheive the most out of every makeup application!!!!

Having the perfect skin is just as important, if not more, as having that perfect dress or those perfect shoes. So why not invest a little more time in your face like you do for your wardrobe? Here are six steps to getting that perfect skin.
Step 1: Cleanse
Cleanse your face with a gentle, creamy liquid cleanser. Bar soap is not only drying, but it’s not hygienic. The dirt that comes off your hands ends up on your face. Put your liquid cleanser on a ball of cotton and then apply it to your skin. (Your hands just aren’t clean enough!) Make sure you rinse with lukewarm water because hot water can aggravate the skin and inflame capillaries.
Step 2: Tone
In the old days, toner was analogous to harsh. But there are a multitude of toners on the market today that are gentle and formulated to balance the skin. This removes the last traces of your cleanser and restores the pH balance of the skin so it won’t over-secrete or under-secrete oil. For oily or combination skin, you can use a toner that is more astringent. For oily skin, look for ingredients like witch hazel. It’s true they are drying, but oily complexions may need this drying effect.
Step 3: Exfoliate
The purpose of gently exfoliating the skin is to remove the buildup of dead skin cells that causes breakouts. Also, you want to smooth the skin’s surface so your treatment products can be absorbed more evenly. But don’t use exfoliators that are too harsh. Look for very fine abrasives. Scrubs that contain ground-nut shells or apricot pits may irritate the skin because the edges are uneven and can cause microscopic tears. Never use loofahs and buff puffs on your face. Your face is not a floor and should not be scrubbed like one. Over-exfoliating will only result in removing healthy new skin.
Step 4: Steam
Gently steam your face once a week for five to ten minutes as part of your deep-cleansing ritual. Place a handful of chamomile in a pot of water and bring to a boil. Turn the flame off and let the mixture “brew” and cool. When it’s cooled enough so the steam doesn’t burn you, place a towel over your head for a tent-like effect and expose your face to the vapor. However tempting it may be, do not squeeze or pick any blemishes after you have steamed.
Step 5: Revitalize
Facial masks are used to revitalize and tighten the skin. For those with oily skin, clay- based masks are best. Hydrating gel masks or cream masks should be used by those with dry or sensitive skin. If you have combination skin, apply a mud mask only over the T-zone, which is the center of the forehead, nose and chin and the center of cheeks. For a real at-home “spa experience,” soak two cotton balls in rosewater and then apply to eyelids while the mask is drying.
Step 6: Moisturize
Regularly moisturizing your skin is critical to maintaining young and healthy looking skin. Another very important reason to wear a daily moisturizer is for protection against the sun’s damaging rays. Moisturizers should be used every morning and every night for maximum results. (Even oily complexions need some sort of moisturizer. Just make sure you find one that’s non-comedogenic and formulated not to block pores.) Nighttime is the best time to apply repairing treatments such as anti-aging or anti-wrinkle creams. During the day, make sure you use a moisturizer that contains an SPF of at least 15.
